A quick word on the purpose of this web site. OK, if you know me, you know there is no such thing as a quick word coming from me. But onward. My intent is to help people overcome survival obstacles that they may encounter in their lives. There are so many possibilities of events that you may experience that there is no possible way I can cover even a small fraction of them. But to get you thinking, I will list a few things that do happen.
Natural disasters can strike anyone at any time. It does not matter how poor you are or how rich you are. An earth quake can level a high income area just as easily as it can a slum. You can find yourself without food or water with no help for days. A blizzard can sock you in for a week. A flood can sweep your home out from underneath you. A hurricane can wipe out hundreds of square miles. You get the point. One second you could have all you could ever dream of and the next…have nothing.
Financial disasters have happened in the past and will again. Unexpectedly they take every comfort away from a family, a community or a Nation. Comfort includes basic and assumed comforts like heat, shelter, food and clean water. There are many rags to riches stories and bless them. There are also many riches to rags stories and may God bless them as well.
Social unrest such as Ferguson and Baltimore can change your life over night. Need I say more.
Power outages that can be caused by numerous events such as storms, terror or just an aged grid. You can be left without clean water, refrigeration or cooking energy.
Getting lost while in nature can happen to anyone who ventures into it.
I could go on and on, but you can see, that no matter who you are, you are not impervious to a disaster that will leave you struggling for survival. You don’t have to be a “Prepper” to give some thought to the possibility of needing to make it through a tough situation.
The following are what I consider to be the most important aspects of survival that you need in order to survive.
First and in my book the most important is Faith. I believe that Jesus has a plan and I have faith that he will take care of me. In his way, he will see me through. Whether its by blessing me with the knowledge I need to survive or by ushering me to be with my Father in Heaven, I will be saved. With that knowledge, I have calmness. I can think clearly and with confidence. I can act and react to what ever situation I might encounter. I understand that not all my readers may be Christians or even religious at all. That’s OK. Your faith can be in what ever your faith is in. What ever it is that gives you confidence, when in a survival situation, take a minute and contemplate that. That meditation can give you calm and clarity.
Second is to address the most immediate concerns. Is anyone injured? Are you exposed to inclement elements? Are you exposed to any dangers at all? If so, remove yourself from danger first then address the injuries.
Third and Fourth may be reversed depending on the situation. If rescue is likely to be quick, then make rescue easier for the rescuers. Build a signal fire or an SOS sign visible from the air. Clear possible obstacles. In other words make it easier for search parties to find you and make it easier for them to reach you and get you out. If rescue is going to take a while or not imminent at all then finding drinking water, shelter and food become priority over helping rescuers. Its time to consider day to day, week to week, etc survival.
There is a separate type of survival that a myriad of people deal with everyday. The day to day struggle of making their money stretch in order to pay their housing and utilities. This is a survival situation that can be alleviated somewhat by learning how to take advantage of Gods bounty. There are literally Millions of tons of free food that is there for the taking if you know where to look.
Take what you think will help you from this site. If you take one thing away that helps you in a future or present hardship, than I have accomplished my goal. God Bless.
